Meet Dr Bill Gong and the Complete Surgical team
Originally from China and raised in Melbourne, Bill brings over a decade of surgical experience to Perth. He completed his training at well-respected hospitals in both Melbourne and Perth—including Fremantle and Fiona Stanley—and is now proud to be setting up his own independent practice. It’s a chance to offer the kind of thoughtful, personal care that patients remember and genuinely value.

About Dr Bill Gong
Dr Bill Gong is a Specialist General Surgeon with more than a decade of experience in both public and private practice. He completed his medical degree at Monash University in 2004, followed by surgical training at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. In 2014, he received his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
After relocating to Perth, Dr Gong undertook further training in Acute Surgery at Fremantle Hospital and completed a year specialising in Hepatic, Biliary and Pancreatic (HPB) surgery at Fiona Stanley Hospital. He has developed expertise across a wide range of procedures, with a particular interest in weight loss surgery, hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, and endoscopy.
He is passionate about delivering care that is thoughtful, personal, and tailored to each patient’s needs. Alongside his surgical practice, Dr Gong teaches and mentors junior doctors and medical students. He holds public appointments and contributes to medical committees in Perth.
Outside of medicine
Bill enjoys time with his wife Esther and their three children. He’s hands-on at home, loves DIY projects, and is always up for trying something new—especially if it challenges his creative side.
Kendall Gow
About Kendall
Kendall is a Nurse Practitioner with a strong background in surgical and weight loss care. Since 2011, she has supported patients through their pre- and post-operative journeys, combining her knowledge in nursing, nutrition, diabetes education, and sexology to provide holistic, patient-centred care.
Kendall is passionate about helping people feel empowered and supported at every stage of their health journey, offering advice that’s both evidence-based and easy to follow in real life.
Outside of medicine
When she’s not at work, Kendall enjoys walking her beagles, discovering new wine bars, and catching up on her favourite podcasts.
Margaret Hays
About Margaret
Margaret is a highly experienced Dietitian with more than 35 years in practice and over a decade specialising in Bariatric Nutrition. She is passionate about helping people make long-term changes after weight loss surgery, offering guidance that focuses on nourishment, mindset, and sustainable habits.
Margaret supports patients both before and after surgery, helping them feel confident in managing their health. She also runs a popular Instagram account, @bariatricdietitian.margaret, where she shares practical tips and encouragement with a community of over 16,000 followers.
Outside of medicine
Margaret enjoys the beach, staying active, and living a balanced lifestyle. She is married and has two adult children, and also co-hosts bariatric retreats in Bali to support women on their journey after surgery.
Libby Smith
About Libby
Libby is a skilled nurse with more than 30 years of experience in both Australia and Canada. She joined Dr Gong’s team in 2020 and plays a vital role in supporting patients throughout their surgical care. Libby brings calmness, compassion, and deep clinical knowledge to every consultation.
She is passionate about patient education and is always looking for ways to improve outcomes and patient experiences.
Outside of medicine
Libby enjoys spending time with her family, taking Pilates classes, riding her moped, and learning to play the double bass.
Kirstie Potter
About Kirstie
Kirstie has worked in healthcare management for over 25 years across the UK and Australia. She brings a wealth of experience in supporting medical practices to run smoothly, with a strong focus on patient care and staff wellbeing. Her friendly, approachable nature helps patients feel welcome and supported from their very first visit.
Outside of medicine
Kirstie enjoys hockey, skiing, golf, and Pilates—and is always keen for an adventure.
Lisa Hedges
About Lisa
Lisa is an experienced Exercise Physiologist with a background in chronic disease management. She believes in a whole-person approach to health and works closely with patients to create personalised movement and fitness plans that suit their abilities and goals.
Her focus is always on making exercise feel safe, enjoyable, and sustainable.
Outside of medicine
Lisa enjoys Pilates, dancing, and beach walks with her dog. Her favourite quote is:

Megan Parker
About Megan
Megan is a Perth-born Dietitian with a background in sports science and over ten years of experience in private practice, aged care, and community settings. She’s passionate about helping clients develop a healthy, balanced relationship with food that fits into real life.
Megan uses practical, evidence-based strategies to support long-term wellbeing, especially for those managing weight and lifestyle changes.

Megan is a mum of two and understands the juggle of busy family life. She loves going to the beach, staying active, and hunting for Perth’s best coffee spots.
